Singapore Assay Office (SAO), a division of Singapore Test Services was set-up in November 1979 with the prime aim of implementing hallmarking of precious metal articles in Singapore as well as providing assaying services to industries.

SAO is SAC Singlas Accredited and is recognized by the London Bullion Market Association – an honour accorded only to establishments that have attained the highest level of assaying expertise.

Through the combined efforts of SAO and The Singapore Jewellers Association, hallmarking has been accepted as a system of independent checks on the purity of gold, silver and platinum sold in Singapore.

SAO Certification assures customers on their precious metal authenticity and is also recognised as a valuable accreditation by local jewellery exporters.

Precious Metals Fineness Testing/ Gold Assaying

We conduct testing based on Singapore Standards (SS581) to determine the fineness (purity) of precious metals, and provide hallmarking services. This allows consumers to identify articles that meet the prescribed fineness levels and safeguard their investments.
